Montessori
Montessori classrooms provide an environment where children are free to respond to their natural curiosity and desire to learn and grow.
Rooted firmly in Christian values and founded on the teaching principles of Maria Montessori, our classes promote an individually-tailored approach to learning based on the student’s natural pace and abilities.
Maria Montessori believed that children should learn on their own, at their own speed, with as little forced direction as possible. Montessori classrooms strive to create a space where teachers are not just instructors but facilitators of learning. The primary Montessori classroom accommodates ages 3-6. At 5 years old, children can remain in the multi-age classroom for their kindergarten year. Kindergarteners also have the option to attend our Extended Day class which is from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.
This active engagement in education allows children to feel more responsible for and proud of their progress. Especially important in early development, children are exposed not only to classical education stimuli, but to real-world tasks as well

Montessori learning philosophy is based on the belief that it is fundamentally important to:
- Recognize and respect the physical, emotional and intellectual individuality of each child.
- Create an environment that nurtures children's self-esteem and creativity.
- Provide opportunities for children to develop according to their own capacities and interests.
- Offer programs that foster independence, self-confidence and social responsibility.
- Provide academic preparation for children's individual levels and learning styles.
- Help children to become competent and independent learners.

Through hands-on Montessori materials children gain a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of language, math, history, geography, all sciences, the arts and more. Montessori children not only learn the answers, they learn how they got there and its relationship to everything else. Montessori children learn by doing. Children master each exercise through repetition as they move forward. Children are no longer subjected to the one-size-fits-all approach of traditional, group-based teaching. |
